We use GP2GP transfer which enables patients' electronic health records to be transferred directly and securely between GP practices. It improves patient care as GPs will usually have quicker access to your records when you register as a new patient

We are a group practice of five partners and one saleried GP.  We look after around 7,000 patients who live in and around North Walsham.  We cover each others holidays with some support from locums.

 

Each doctor provides a full range of medical, maternity, contraceptive, minor surgery and child health surveillance services.  The GPs are on the minor surgery and child health surveillance lists.  Patients, including new patients joining the practice, will be offered consultations for a health check as part of our programme of health promotion.

 
We aim to provide the best Primary Health Care in Norfolk in a happy and relaxed environment.

  

 

 

 


 

Dr Bowman is leaving the surgery 

 

We are sad to announce that Dr Bowman will be leaving the practice with effect from 31st August 2016. Dr Bowman would like to convey her appreciation and thanks to all the patients that have supported the Practice during her time here.

 

Paston Surgery would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Bowman for all her contributions during her time at the surgery

 

At the moment we will continue with Dr Bowman's patients being held on a list, while we make arrangements over the next few weeks to allocate these to the other GP’s in the practice . We would like to reassure patients that there will be no interruption to their healthcare management during this transition period. We will keep patients informed of the changes to GP personnel as and when these arrangements are finalised. Your medical care will continue to be provided by the entire healthcare team and appointments, consultations and home visits will be arranged with the most appropriate GP/Nurse available.

 

 

Due to annual leave Dr Bowman will have very limited availability in the weeks leading up to her departure.

 



Paston Appointment Trial

Having trialled book on the day and reserved pre bookable slots for two weeks, we have reviewed your feedback and want to develop the system taking on board your suggestions. These changes took effect from April 4th


Monday

Will remain as it is now with book on the day routine appointments.


Tuesday to Thursday

We will be offering a selection of book on the day and pre bookable routine appointments. Both for morning and afternoon surgery.


Friday

We will be offering pre bookable routine appointments only.

Telephone & Extended hour’s appointments

We offer pre bookable telephone and extended hour’s appointments Monday to Friday.


How to Book an Appointment

We offer 3 ways in which you can book a routine or book on the day appointment.

Telephone, Reception & Online from 8.30 every day. For further details please ask a member of our team.


This system is in addition to our Urgent Duty clinics which runs Monday to Friday 8.30-6.30

 

Telephone consultations will still be able to be booked up 2 weeks in advance and we still offer our extended hours consultations on various days between 7.15-8am and 6.30-7.15pm

 

 

 

To book online you will need an account, this is the same one you may already use for medication ordering.  Please speak to our dispensary team if you need an account setting up (you will need to provide photo ID).

 

Once setup you can book online either by visiting


 

or using the online apps.

 

  

 

Please be aware nurse and phone call appointments cannot be booked online.  Our nursing team has a wide variety of skills that cannot be displayed on the booking system, and so are not available to avoid missbooking.  The online system also does not differentiate between face 2 face and telephone appointments, and so we are unable to offer these at this time online either.

 


The surgery is closed on Bank and Statutory holidays.

During May 90 Doctor and Nurse appointments were missed.  The Equivalent of 134, 10 minute appointment slots.

This adds up to just over a full 22 hours of surgery time.

 

 


If you are unable to make an appointment please contact the surgery so we can move or cancel it for you.

 

Alternatively cancellations can be made using our online system, or by email (please allow at least 1 working day if cancelling by email.  And include your full name, date of birth and appointment date/time  paston.surgery@nhs.net)

 

 

 

 


 

Named, Accountable, GP

 


As part of the updated GP contract, every GP patient is now required to have a named GP, who is responsible for their care.

 

Unlike some surgeries, we already have our patients registered with individual GP's.  Although patients are free to consult with any GP of their choice.


If you are not currently aware which GP you're registered with, please feel free to enquire next time you're in contact with the surgery.

 


 

 

Our online system allows patients to place prescription orders and manage their appointments at any time day or night, including days when we are closed.

 

A new facility now is now also available to patients who wish to view their summary medical information including both medications, allergies, and some clinical items from medical their records.
