You can find out more about what autism is here Autism NHS.
If you would like to be assessed there are two available pathways: the NHS Pathway and the Right to Choose Pathway (RTC).
The NHS Pathway has a significant waiting time from referral to diagnosis, currently standing at up to 5 years so many people opt for RTC. This allows people to choose a private provider to carry out the assessment funded by the NHS and waiting times tend to be much shorter.
NHS Pathway
This service is now run by Be U Norfolk. Please visit their website for more information and how to refer yourself.
Assessment Support for adults – Be U Norfolk
RTC
ADHD UK has a table on their website showing which providers are available, the assessments they offer, and their waiting times.
If you wish to be referred please read the information above and choose your provider. Please then look at the referral process on their website, complete their screening checklist and contact us with your choice of provider so we can refer you for assessment.
You do NOT need an appointment with your GP prior to referral. However, if you are uncertain whether referral for assessment is right for you then please make an appointment to discuss.
